I have had 3 Sea Rays and a Carver. Customers often ask what the major differences are between the two manufacturers. It even had, in my opinion, a better port-side seating/table arrangement than the 2000 Sig 240 has. Losing the wide side gunnels does add a lot of extra width in the cabin and the cockpit though. {
The Carver C43 Coupe is a spacious express style cruiser recently released by Carver with cutting-edge styling combined with spectacular build construction and impressive performance specifications. Cruise was a very respectable 22 knots at 2,200 rpm. I tend to like rounded corners vs square corners, which the Sea Ray has. His brother, James Franklin Carver, was born in 1943. When we lost it, we had planned on replacing it with another Sea Ray, till we saw the 330 at a summer boat show.

A 17.5 is a very small boat and underpowered at that, you will outgrow it very quickly (like around the 2nd trip). With excellent marketing and an aggressive distribution channel, Sea Ray flourished in the mid-to-late 1990's into the early 2000's consistently out-selling competitive brands in their class like Carver, Regal Boats, and others. A 2000 Sea Ray 460 is listing for $300,000 while a 2000 Cruisers 4270 is listing for $200K - $250K. The Sea Ray appeared to be a quality boat, which its reputation says it is.
